Trusted Village FAQs

What is Trusted Village?

Trusted Village is an exclusive membership community designed for family members of children with ASD. Its core purpose centers around cultivating support, connection, with a primary emphasis on 10-person core groups, professional facilitators, ongoing knowledge-sharing among peers, and incredible in-person events.

What are the requirements for Trusted Village membership?

Trusted Village is currently only accepting applications for caregivers of children with ASD. We also evaluate you to ensure you are generous and collaborative members of the community.

How do I apply and what is the vetting process?

Anyone can feel free to apply through this application. If you’ve been referred by a current Trusted Village member, please remember to list their name or use this link, as your application will moved to the front of the line.

Joining Trusted Village involves a two-step process:

First, we ask you to fill out a short questionnaire, which should take less than 10 minutes.

Next you’ll schedule a 30-minute interview with our membership team, where we can learn more about you and you can learn more about Trusted Village!

Is it true that Trusted Village is limiting its membership?

Trusted Villages’s number one priority is maintaining the quality and integrity of the community and the expertise of its members. For that reason, we’ve decided to create a local chapter-based system that allows the community to grow in the best ways and yet also stay intimate in the best way possible. We can elaborate more during your interview if you have further questions.

What is included in Trusted Village membership?

“The Trusted Village 5” are the five core pillars through which we view our member benefits:

Core Group: Trusted Village core groups consist of 10 caregivers and a professional facilitator who meet 10 times per year for 2.5 hours each session. Core groups are a structured way to develop real relationships with caregivers in similar situations in order to connect, share, and get invaluable feedback and advice. Group meetings should be the most inflexible item on your calendar, so caregivers need to be serious about the commitment.

Digital Community & Knowledge Base: We pride ourselves on having the most active, generous, and engaged ASD community in the world. We also have a weekly members-only newsletter, a private member portal that includes a member directory and interactive map, interactive features, and a dedicated community concierge available to help you connect and maximize your Trusted Village experience. Trusted Village maintains a knowledge base with information that is helpful in everything including how to navigate government programs to where to take a vacation with ASD support.

In-person Community: Trusted Village members love being together. We plan incredible in-person get togethers with caregivers, children, and families. Last but not least, our members are always congregating on their own, and we’re there to help facilitate dozens of Community gatherings, whether it’s at a park or at a restaurant.

Speaker Series & Education: Our speaker series aims to bring in ASD experts, therapists, and other specialists so you can continue learning from the best there is. Our goal isn’t just to bring in “big name” speakers, but rather to have knowledge-sharing sessions that are applicable to you.

Exclusive Perks: There are a number of perks available only to Trusted Village members. Deals, credits, and a preferred vendor database, are all at your fingertips.

Who will be in my core group meetings?

If you are invited to join Trusted Village and accept our invitation, our membership and curation team will begin the process of forming your core group. We evaluate you location, age of your child, range of ASD experiences and pair you with a group that will complement your ASD journey. Depending on when you join Trusted Village, it could be several months or just a few weeks before you receive your core group assignment.

Tell me more about the core group meetings?

Core group meetings are on zoom and are typically 2.5 hours each. There are roughly 10 meetings per year; with flexibility around summer months and December. Each meeting is planned, organized and streamlined by an professional facilitator skilled in group psychotherapy. The core group meetings are structured enough so that you always know what’s on the agenda and what is expected of one another, but with enough flexibility to allow for the highest-value conversation to emerge. The core group is our secret sauce, so we’d be happy to share more with you when you interview with our membership team.

What are Trusted Village's core values?

Confidentiality: Everything in Trusted Village is completely confidential, and members have to sign a privacy pledge in order to gain access to the community. We treat this very seriously.

Openness: We ask that you come to Trusted Village with a lot of transparency and a lot of excitement to be open, honest, and vulnerable.

No Judgement: Treat everyone how you would like to be treated. Dealing with a child with ASD is hard and everyone brings their own past experiences to raising children. Our goal is to have a community with no judgement and instead the ability to support.

Experience Shares: Instead of telling people what to do, we work to share our experiences and what works/doesn't for us. Everyone is different and everyone should make their own well informed decisions.
