Free special-education help in Washington: your Parent Training & Information Center (PTI) and SEPAC

Every state has a federally-funded Parent Training & Information Center (PTI) that helps families navigate special education, for free. Here's Washington's, plus how to find your local SEPAC.

You do not have to pay for help understanding special education. Two free, parent-focused resources exist almost everywhere:

Parent Training & Information Center (PTI): federally funded, at least one per state. They give free 1:1 guidance, workshops, and publications on IEPs, 504s, evaluations, and your rights.
SEPAC / SEPTA (Special Education Parent Advisory Council): a parent-run group at the district level. They meet regularly, share resources, and are a great first local connection.

These are often the fastest way to get oriented before an IEP meeting, and they're a natural place to meet other local parents.
